Michael and Candida have traveled, performed and collaborated with musicians from Mongolia to Kyrgyzstan creating music inspired by the people, landscape and their travels.

Michael Ormiston is UK’s most experienced Mongolian Khöömii (Overtone) singer. He travelled to west Mongolia in 1993 to study Khöömii with Herdsman and expert singer Tserendavaa. During his six times in Mongolia he has also studied with leading singers, Tsengedorj, Ganbold, Gereltsolt  and Tsogtbaatar and has the rare privilege of being blessed to teach Khöömii by Tserendavaa and Gereltsogt which he has been doing internationally for the past 17 years.

Candida Valentine sings “Khargyraa”, an undertone style of singing that has strong connections with shamanistic practices of Mongolia and Tuva. She has studied sacred geometry and creates her own Mandalas/Yantras based on her love of colour, shape, nature and her study of The Tantric arts.

Michael and Candidia are offering the chance to learn their harmonic throat singing techniques at this day long workshop on Monday 7th March 2016. Find out more: Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino: Khöömii Workshop
